Buggies. Carriages. Trolleys.

What am I up to these days? Thanks for asking. I’d love to tell you.

Today’s big adventure was a trip to the pharmacy to pick up my 7.7-pound sack of phosphorus.

Yes, 7.7 pounds. Apparently, I now purchase minerals by the sack, like a Depression-era farmer preparing for a particularly harsh winter.

Eevee came along because she, too, deserves an occasional change of scenery beyond the front porch. We are women of adventure, after all.

Naturally, I arrived at 1:20. The pharmacy closes for lunch from 1:00 to 1:30.

Of course it does.

With ten minutes to kill, I considered my options. Drive home? Ridiculous. Sit in the car? Boring. Find a way to turn a grocery store parking lot into an enriching educational experience for my dog?
NOW WE’RE TALKING.

So I started returning stray shopping carts. Buggies. Carriages. Trolleys. Whatever your people call the wheeled contraptions everyone abandons six feet from the cart corral.

It’s actually a useful training exercise for Eevee. She gets to practice walking politely around rattling metal objects while I perform unpaid labor for a multibillion-dollar corporation.

And that’s when I was spotted by the neighborhood Chilean, Mr. Vasquez.

Because naturally, someone I know had to witness me wandering around a parking lot collecting shopping carts with my dog.

I can only imagine what this looked like from a distance.

Anyway, that’s where life has taken me. I used to have places to go, people to see, things to do.

Now I schedule my social outings around pharmacy lunch breaks and provide complimentary cart retrieval services.

Some people take their dogs to agility classes. Mine is training for a career at Kroger.
