Chilean Olive Snacks

I saw an interesting thing while we had stopped to look at some famous lady's school or something...as you can see it really left an impression on me. The local flavor was much more interesting. I believe I saw this somewhere on the way to La Serena but I wouldn't swear to it.

These guys in a red truck with large blue barrels in the back pulled up to a parking lot that fed a restaurant, a park, and an artisan plaza.

I was really curious as to what was in the blue barrels. I'm not sure why, but for some reason I expected there to be fish inside. I was wrong.

Families large and small, couples, and loners alike approached this truck and handed over some money in exchange for a sack full of olives. For the most part, each person got a bag but sometimes people did share. They all ate the olives in a way similar to how we (Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio) eat popcorn.

Although I do love olives, I'm not sure I've got what it takes to eat a whole bag of them as a snack. Yet again, I was fascinated by what I saw.
