Elastic Perspective: It bends and changes shape but can sneak around and snap you in the ass

I spent some time today searching for quotes about journeys and travel for an annual report for work...but found some that made me question my perspective on life...and my desires for traveling.
"To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive." - Robert Louis Stevenson
This made me consider the things in life that didn't end up as I expected.

And why am I not surprised that Kierkegaard made me question the fundamental motivations for why I like to travel...
"People commonly travel the world over to see rivers and mountains, new stars, garish birds, freak fish, grotesque breeds of human; they fall into an animal stupor that gapes at existence and they think they have seen something."
- Soren Kierkegaard
But honestly, Emerson seemed to make more sense to me about life in general...not something to travel by, but something to live by...
"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
