The Wooden Pencil

Cheers to my ultimate dorkiness. What does the world have against the old-fashioned yellow #2 pencil? I much prefer a wooden pencil to the "sophisticated" mechanical type even if they do require the messiness of sharpening.

Reasons why I love wooden pencils.
  1. They smell good.
  2. They are more comfortable to hold.
  3. Unless sharpened to a lethal point, the lead can take more pressure without breaking.
  4. I never think twice about letting someone borrow a wooden pencil.
  5. It's no big deal when someone doesn't return "borrowed" pencil, because it's just a pencil.
  6. Sharpening the pencil can be considered a form of exercise, I think.
  7. You can develop an appreciation for your pencil. Unlike plastic writing utensils, you can see it getting smaller with each sharpening, vividly reminding the user that nothing is forever.
  8. They smell good.
And yes, I'm very comfortable with my inner dork.
