18.75 - oh, so close

I just missed my goal of 20 miles planned for the weekend. Kodie & I hiked 18.75 miles. I took Harley on his first hike ever and he fizzled after 5 miles, so I just missed my goal. But not killing the Chihuahua was more important than reaching 20 miles. ;)

On Saturday I took the dogs to the Kentucky Horse Park for a hike through the fields. This was Harley's first hiking and off-leash (on purpose) experience. He did great!

And seemed to really enjoy it. Unfortunately, he's just too small to really keep up with Kodie & I but he did his best and managed just fine for the 5 miles.

Sunday I hiked the Millennium Trail (13.75 miles) at Bernheim Forest. It was wonderful! Except for the 37 1/2 foot attack snake that chased me down the trail, lunged for my jugular and wrestled me to the ground constricting the air from my lungs. Thank goodness for Elizabeth's Tae Kwan Do expertise and super efficient use of hiking poles to defend fellow hikers...Or something like that happened. ;)

The Millennium Trail is a little challenging in a few places but I was very excited to complete it with (some) energy to spare.

Kodie hiked more than the length of the trail and never missed a beat. Upon starting it seemed everyone was concerned that she would be unable to complete it...Ha!...I've seen her keep up on the trail while I was on horseback...I don't think it's possible to wear that dog out!

Note: No snakes were harmed during the April 16th hiking of the Millennium Trail.
