Went for a quick afternoon hike at Buckley's Wildlife Sanctuary this afternoon. Hiked the Red and Yellow trails (2.5 miles) as a little test hike for the 'ole knee...that's without a brace. All is well. I think the gym is really helping keep my muscles as they should be...not to mention my upper body is really enjoying the weights. I have to admit that I like the gym.
Now, back to the hiking. Spring is arriving, as this shot illustrates. I also saw a very interesting tree. If anyone reading this can tell me what would cause a tree to grow like this, please leave a comment and share. I'm very curious.
I also went on a photography excursion to the very beautiful Lexington cemetery. I'll be posting some pictures from that soon.

kind of looks like a tree canker. cankers are caused by a fungus that gets into a tree at a damaged area of bark. a tree will wall off the fungus area during the growing season, then during the dormant season the fungus will invade again...cycle keeps repeating causing the growth spot. i emailed it to an ag teacher friend, if he disagrees i'll let you know.
