Notable Articles

Usually I don't like to post news articles that pique my interest, I much prefer to talk about photos that I've taken or something I've got planned. But today there were just too many to let go. Certainly I'm posting these to share with all of my readers, but I'm also posting them for posterity so I can actually find them if I need them.

1. Are germs good for children's health?
Ok, seriously world, can we back off on all the antibacterial crap now? Some strategically timed, good 'ole soap and warm water will work wonders. That junk not only strips you of immune building germs, but it also strips your body of normal flora...that you need, that's why it's called normal.

2. Pregnant woman beaten at baby shower
So, I guess maybe some of those stories on Jerry Springer could be real if something like this is in the news. Posted for comic relief of ridiculous behavior. I mean, come on people.

3. Tipping point in obesity epidemic?
Geez, I really hope so. Our weight is getting out of control in this country when we have to make wheel chairs and hospital beds almost double the size, toddlers don't fit into car seats, and auto manufacturers around the world are making seats bigger. (all of these examples are from articles I've read over the last week or so) I'm really not trying to be superficial, I'm certainly no supermodel, but obesity is a serious health risk. If you ever need horror stories of watching family members die of diabetic complications...just ask. And yes, most adult onset diabetes is directly related to diet and weight. And there's a plethora of other health risks besides diabetes. Changing your lifestyle is not easy, but please try America.

4. Homeland Security official caught in child porn sting
Yeah, that makes me feel safe. Despicable, that's what it is. Thank goodness it was a detective and not a child...and the "security official" got caught. Really, what the hell is wrong with people?

Ok, I just read something about a rape case with the Duke lacrosse team. I'm done reading the news. I was interested in the first three, but as I continued to read, I only became disgusted.

I'm going back to posting my pretty little pictures. I'll continue to read the news but I just won't post anything about it. This will be my little haven of flower gardens, butterflies, and fun spring activities.

Come on over. Take a stroll through the daffodils.
