Greatest Spectacle in Racing

Spent the holiday weekend in Indianapolis for the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing."
It was a good race although I was disappointed that Danica Patrick did not win. She finished in the top 10, which isn't bad, and last year she was the first woman to lead a lap at the 500 and also 2005 Rookie of the Year. Not bad, but she didn't win. Maybe next year.

The race was exciting and this year even better for me because I didn't have to get up at 3 am to head into the track. I camped at the track and strolled in at an easy 7:30 am. Sweet. I also didn't run around like a crazy person taking pictures of everything in sight.

very envious. some inconsiderate high school official decided my sons graduation would be on race day. (which is a sacred holy day in indiana)and guess who forgot to record it!

What a crime! Yes, I was raised in IN and my dad has worked at the IMS for like 30 years. I understand the sacred day of the 500. Very similar to Derby Day here in KY...I was so irritated when my college graduation was Derby weekend.

i'm so glad danica patrick is actually good, unlike lyn st. james, who seemed to get in an accident in like the first lap of every race she was in. now people can start to envision women drivers as actual competetiors.

i've never been to an indy 500 but i always wanted to go (been to lots of other races though). although it hasn't been the same for me since the IRL came on the scene. for a while after that split, there wasn't even anyone worth watching in the IRL, and hardly any CART drivers were racing at indy. that was a big bummer.
