I was very excited to see the very first turtle blaze along the section we walked…the turtle is way cooler than just a smudge of paint.
Certainly my first night in camp along the trail was very exciting. It was really cool to pick my spot to sleep for the night. I chose a nice place near the stream so my door could face it and I could hear the water running over the rocks all night.
I absolutely fell in love with the area of the suspension bridge. It was gorgeous…however, a bit dangerous for me and my enthusiasm. This is where I became so excited about the opportunity of a raspberry flavored Lifesavers Creme Saver that I slipped on the rocks and went down. Luckily I didn't hurt anything. And yes, the candy was delicious.
It was also a bit unlucky for my poor camera. It’s been so fortunate for the 3 years or so that I’ve had it without dropping it or damaging it in any way. However, at the bridge location we decided to take a group photo using my camera’s timer. I carefully set it up on a rock and adjusted the zoom. Just as I stepped away to get in the picture the camera bounced fitfully across the rocks and skidded into a patch of sand. I hadn’t noticed the neck strap had gotten looped around my ankle. Eeek. It still works but is certainly scuffed up a bit. I’ll do some research to see about cleaning the sand from its buttons.
And here it is...the shot that nearly killed my camera!

Note: Some of these pictures are blurry due to odd lighting conditions and a sometimes tricky camera.
Another note: Thanks to those in the group who took pictures of me!
