So today I was feeling slightly Betty Crocker-like and decided to make a pie. I don't have my hand-picked wild blackberries sorted & cleaned yet and I didn't want to take the time to slice the peaches so I decided I'd make blueberry. I'd never made blueberry pie before.
I made everything from scratch, which in my opinion is the only way to make a proper pie. Store crust or pie filling just doesn't cut it. If I'm going to do that I'd might as well just buy a Sara Lee frozen pie.
I took my first ever scratch blueberry pie to a cookout of only 6 adults and received the best compliment ever...I brought home an empty dish. Just a little remnant of blueberry filling left. I had a piece with some vanilla ice cream and I have to admit it was pretty damn good. Homemade peach pie will happen sometime this week. Yum!
