…that I’m officially old. I'm not sure if I'm disappointed to have closure on my youth or if I'm elated to feel fine about waking up without a headache. Either way, this weekend has showed me I’m old.
After a week of both long work hours and long fun hours, on Friday I was very pleased to turn down plans to go to a bar and opt to sit at home watching TV, playing online, and enjoying a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon before bed.
Saturday morning I enjoyed sleeping in a bit before a friend called wanting to go to breakfast. We ate at a nice little café, then walked to the weekly farmers’ market, and strolled past a realtor’s window. Later, we drove around some neighborhoods looking for houses for sale, as my friend is interested in selling her farm.
Now all that sounds like a nice relaxing weekend, not just the weekend of an old woman. However, the real clincher was last night.
I went to a barn party hosted by a long time friend and was the DD (as always) so I knew I wouldn’t be living it up. I had one drink early in the evening and enjoyed the conversation of old friends.
Then all the youngsters arrived, all giggly and heavily intoxicated. They were fun for about 15 minutes but then just started to give me a headache. I drank another Coke Zero hoping that would help, but it failed.
After about the third yawn, I was totally ready for some silence and a nice drive home around 11 pm. That finally happened around 12 or 12:30, which seemed like an eternity.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, Jodi is officially old.
