Today we got a reprieve from all the rain. There were still some lingering clouds around but we also got to see sun.
I had a wonderfully productive day, for which I will sleep well tonight.
I went to breakfast with a friend and managed to not eat hideously terrible food. I refrained from French fries and opted for a grilled cheese with pickles and cole slaw. [No, I don’t like “breakfast” food except biscuits and gravy or pancakes, both of which would have made me sleep all day.]
After breakfast I came home and went through my checkbook, made a few phone calls, then headed off to Lexington to run some errands. I had a great errand day by making a return at Walmart, stopping by Plato’s Closet [nothing for me there today] and then heading over to T.J. Maxx. I’m trying to gradually upgrade my wardrobe. I don’t think I posted about it but I had an interesting experience getting ready for work the other day…as I dressed it seemed there was a hole in nearly everything I put on! I had to sew a hole in my sweater, replace the hem in my pants, and throw out a pair of socks…all before going to work! I need some new clothes.
Considering how much I despise shopping, I wasn’t looking forward to it. But I’ve decided it won’t be as bad if I just upgrade slowly, you know, a few items at a time instead of traumatizing myself by shopping for everything in one day and spending ungodly amounts of money.
Whoa, got off the subject there. Anyway, I bought a blazer and a sweater today. I’ll do some more in a couple of weeks.
After the shopping I came home for lunch. Then took my dogs out to the park for a nice walk…and Tequila’s first “off leash” experience. She did great! We practiced recalls and at first she just did what Kodie did but by then end of our 3 hour walk she seemed to really understand the difference between “come” and “over here.” She really impressed me.
Both dogs loved the fields today because there were random puddles everywhere so they would run along and, with great surprise, sploosh through knee-deep water. They had a ball and soon looked for puddles to sploosh through. Both dogs were soggy, muddy, tired, and happy.
We also sat out on a hill for a while and watched the clouds roll by. That was really nice. The breeze was cool and the grass was waving with each gust.
Once we were all adequately water-logged, I came back home and cleaned up, tidied up the house, did two loads of laundry, cooked dinner and cried through Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
[Sigh] What a wonderful day. I’m ready for another week.
