Pears turn brown

FYI: Pears turn brown if you cut them up and put them in fruit salad.

And it's very sad when you have to pitch some delicious pears because you cut up too much to eat and they are too brown and nasty to try to save...certainly not suitable for a fruit salad going to a public function.

Sigh.

But they do make good still life art. Even cut up...why aren't these pears brown?
