World Equestrian Games -- Aachen Dressage

This is the most amazing freestyle dressage I've seen and from the commentators' reactions...the most amazing freestyle dressage just about anyone has ever seen. You don't need to be a horse person to appreciate this.

Dressage is the highest form of equestrian training. The rider takes the natural movements of the horse and teaches him to respond to almost imperceptible cues to demonstrate a total working partnership between horse and rider. Dressage is the discipline of the famous Lipizzaner stallions of Vienna. This originated, not to make the horse dance, but for complex war maneuvers in battle. Today it is the most elegant discipline. Freestyle dressage is set to music and should appear as though the horse is dancing.

This is also a taste of the World Equestrian Games, for those of you who do not know what the equestrian competition it like. Dressage is one of eight different disciplines in the games. In 3 short years, equestrian sport of this caliber will arrive in central Kentucky.

Keep watching through the walk. Although the walk is not the most exciting part, a well executed walk is very difficult in the sport of dressage.
