I have vacation in May and I'm looking to go somewhere. And I really don't have a preference right now. I wouldn't mind gaining another stamp on my passport but I'm not opposed to domestic travel. I'll be buying one ticket and needing hotel accomadations too. I'm looking for cheap so I can save my money for Thailand in January but I sure would like to go somewhere now.
Any advice on last minute deals or destinations???

Good source for last minute getaways: http://www.site59.com
Interesting domestic places within 2 or 3 airstops:
Crested Butte, CO
Astoria/Coos Bay, OR
Bismark, ND (yes, North Dakota)
Rockland, Maine
All the above offer prime hiking experiences, as well as relaxing "do nothing" times.
Internationally, I'd vote for Iceland. Yes, Iceland. You can get some decent packags through IcelandAir (http://www.icelandair.com/), just make your way to BWI near DC and Baltimore for departure. If that doesn't get your aurora borealis burning, perhaps hiking/rafting through Nova Scotia/Newbrunswick/ and/or Newfoundland in Northeast Canada might work. I bit closer, perhaps.
Of course, if it is tropical you crave, May is a good time to do the Mexican Riviera, with Cozumel being at the top of my list.
I'm sure you'll find something fun to do. Wherever you go, take pictures and write in detail uopn your return.
Travel safe!
