Finally somebody, somewhere out there is realizing the absurdity to all this bottled water crap.
Ok, there is a time and place for bottled water but it is not for every drop of water consumed by the American public. When I hear people say, "I don't drink anything but bottled water," I really just want to slap them and ask if they've ever considered the amount of trash created and the amount of non-renewable resources wasted from all those bottles and transportation.
And yes, I do understand the argument of "my city water doesn't taste very good," which I fully understand as I do not care for the flavor of the water in my town. However, they do make reusable water filters that work really well to fill reusable water containers like Nalgene, etc. bottles.
Thank you San Francisco.
The reason I'm so passionate about this issue? Sure, it is partially about non-renewable resources and garbage but it is also the attitude that I have experienced lately. Every day at work I drink 2-3 of the 16 oz. Nalgene bottles of water...filled from the drinking fountain of course. And almost daily I'm asked why I fill my bottle from the fountain when I could have bottled water. When I give my short and sweet reply that I drink a lot and don't want to have the office/park burden the extra expense and cause extra waste with something I can easily get simply by walking downstairs...I often hear..."I always knew you were weird, Jodi."
Sigh. It is now "weird" for someone to drink from a drinking fountain. Really, people. Get over yourself.
