Although Survivor Man still hasn't responded to my marriage proposal, I'd like to now challenge him to what could possibly be the biggest challenge of his career. I'll also challenge any of those adventure sports people to...
....take a walk in Versailles, Kentucky.
Ok, obviously I'm exaggerating a little. And I really mean, a little. At least 2-3 times per week I nearly get hit by a car crossing the street in front of my house. Granted I live on one of the busiest corners in town, but I always wait for walk signals and stay in the cross walks. And I'm really getting tired of having to give people dirty looks when I'm 6 inches from becoming their hood ornament. I tell my family regularly that the activity that is going to kill me prematurely one day is simply crossing the street in Versailles, KY.
Tonight it happened again. I'm (very obviously) standing on the street corner waiting to cross the street. Walk signal pops up. I look for cars turning right and see one. He waits and AS SOON as I start walking he starts his turn. I continue a few steps and he makes his turn slightly wider to avoid me. That's right. He didn't stop just widened his turn. I hesitate then keep walking after I realize I'm now in the middle of the lane. He widens his turn. I'm like, "Whoa! This dude isn't stopping!" Then I realize he is about 2 feet from the car in the left turn lane! I shoot him a dirty look as I try to get across the street and he "waves me on." Oh, isn't he generous. After he tries to kill me, he decides to let me go before he's facing homicide charges. Come people. Really. Are you that big of a hurry?
Seriously. The little white "walking person" on the light box means that if a pedestrian is there you need to wait until that person is out of the way.
I've said my piece. Thanks for reading.

You know, there are alot of people out there driving their cars talking on cell phones, old people that can barely see the hood of their car, drunks, and people under the influence of any number of drugs. You'd better give way to the idiot drivers, and not stand your ground!
