We have a lot of meetings in our office. With 45 members on our Board of Directors and a bazillion committees, we always have meetings. Today I had three. Logistics can be such a challenge. I’m sure that’s what one attendee was thinking when he selected his transportation for the day.
I arrived at the third meeting a few minutes late so I missed the first bits of discussion. As the meeting was wrapping up, someone said something to the effect of, “Well, that’s why Stan brought the helicopter.” Everyone laughed and I did too.
The discussion moved to traffic somehow and Stan jokingly said, “That’s why I brought the helicopter. I thought traffic might be bad.”
I laughed again thinking there’s probably some new sports car called a helicopter or something. I'm such a car junkie you know.
So the meeting wrapped up and Stan and his Golden Retriever, Baron, left the building. As my boss and I started back to the office, she said, “I’m going to go check out Stan’s helicopter.”
I was like “WHAT? STAN REALLY HAS A HELICOPTER? STAN REALLY BROUGHT A HELICOPTER TO THE MEETING TODAY?”
I think I stumbled over my jaw, which was dragging on the ground.
We rounded the corner and I saw Stan sitting in a real helicopter putting a head set over his ears. Baron was sitting in the back looking out the window at us in our measly golf cart looking at him.
Baron yawned, Stan fired up the engine, the propeller turned and with a brief puff of air Stan and Baron were hovering over the Kentucky Horse Park on their way home from the meeting.
I couldn’t believe it. I’m not really sure what the coolest part is. I think it might be Baron sitting in the back looking out the window at us like, “What? You’ve never seen a man and his dog leaving in a helicopter before?”
Um, well, roger that. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.

I use to spend quite a bit of time at the horse park as a vendor. Love that place. My sister works for NTRA...so the helecopter thing does not surprise me at all.
