A Boat a Bed Fits In

It's official. I need to find a boat that is big enough for my bed. As many of you know, the window is falling out of the wall in my apartment and it rains in...and has for 5 months now. As you can imagine there is extensive water damage to the entire wall. And it really smells bad too. Oh and I forgot the mold.

For 2 years now the roof has leaked and caused stains on the ceiling. The landlord has known about these problems for the mentioned time frame. I have even given them names of people to fix the roof. And nothing.

So now we are experiencing extremely heavy rainfall, albeit much needed, but that doesn't help my leaky apartment problem. Last night the rain coming in the window area was so noisy that I was unable to sleep from 2 - 5:30 am. And very smelly by the time I went to work. Obviously I have plans to sleep on the couch tonight.

When I came home from work I discovered not only had the window area been leaking heavily, but now water is coming into the apartment through the ceiling too. And there are 5 new stains on the ceiling throughout the entire apartment.

How long until I close on my house?

one starving musician came by to say: Goodbye apartment living! That has happened to me before and my ceiling started coming down in big wet clumps that would scare me half to death while I tried to sleep.

Yikes! The new house can't come soon enough, huh?

Out of curiosity, have you been by the new house during the rain? Just to see how it holds up under the downpour? I'm sure it is fine and much better than the current situations, but sometimes certain house "features" or quirks show up when the house undergoes a significant environmental change - like prolonged rain. These things might not have been evident before under calmer and dryer conditions. How is the yard draining? Is it on a basement/crawlspace? How's the roof? All these things will be checked out during the inspection processes, but it might be worth a drive by to see how it is holding up.

Thats my unsolictied 2 cents for the day. I don't expect this to be posted, but I just wanted to put a bug in your ear. But like I said, I'm sure it is much better than the current situation.

Stay dry! Stay happy!

Why wouldn't I post your suggestions?! They're excellent!

I did consider driving by it but thought it might be a waste but now that I've heard a second opinion on the matter, I think I will. Thanks!

Ha! Thanks - I'm glad you liked the suggestion. I just didn't want to make it seem like I was being overly nosy and butting in - sometimes I'm overly sensitive about that. Especially if I might be doing that to a stranger in a public forum like this. :)

Anyway, I'm glad my 2 cents was actually a bit more valuable and I'm sure things will work out just fine with the new house. Keep us updated!
