When my taste buds cheered, a little piece of heart tissue died.
With the current house situation I'm totally living on a shoestring (relatively so) and I'm eating every meal at home. I did some strategic grocery shopping with coupons and I've got about a month's worth of food and only spent $72. I'm so proud.
Anyway, I cooked a good Kentucky-type meal for myself tonight and it was delicious. I think I'll go ahead and schedule an appointment with the coronary unit but my taste buds are happy campers.
I had smoked sausage with onions, fried potatoes and onions, and fried okra. Oh my goodness was it good. I was "supposed" to have some leftovers for lunch tomorrow but I ate it all tonight. I couldn't let it wait. What if my apartment lost electricity through the night and the sausage, okra, and potato leftovers spoiled? That would not be a responsible Kentuckian.
