Thwarted by the Storm

I'm so bummed.  I was supposed to leave to go to my mom's house tonight and spend the weekend visiting a sick relative, attending a 50th anniversary party, and partying at my 3 year old nephew's birthday celebration.  Instead I'm sitting in my bed wishing I were spending time with my family.

As many of you in the area know, there is a huge winter storm watch out until Saturday.  Here in Kentucky we're supposed to get several inches of snow.  In northern Indiana where my family lives, they are expected to get 6-10 inches of snow with 10-20 mile per hour winds and 30 mph gusts.  If you've ever been to northern Indiana you know it is so flat there that 2 inches of snow can result in 3 feet drifts.

So everyone I asked for advice in Indiana and Kentucky all said I should stay home and play it safe rather than making the 5 hr drive there.  And I know they're all right but I am really, really bummed because I never get to attend anniversary parties and birthday celebrations.  I'm always too far away.  I was really, really looking forward to it and now I'm really, really disappointed.

Thanks for listening to me whine.  I'm going to go see a movie tomorrow.  Maybe that will pacify me.

Yes, you know exactly what I mean then. I grew up in tiny Ossian...10 miles south of Ft Wayne. All my family lives in Ossian or Ft Wayne. How funny that you lived there too.
