Mama Jodi!

I'm about to adopt 6 chicks and become a mama for a few weeks.  I've been helping a friend incubate chicks for his farm but his wife hasn't been as excited as we were about the process. He talked her into letting him keep the eggs & incubator in the basement through hatching but rearing the young seem to be a different story.

They are hatching tonight [it was all I could do to leave the chicks and not stay up all night long watching them hatch] and he will bring them over tomorrow evening.  We'll get the rearing box all set and they'll be my responsibility.  Katie said she'd watch them during the day...and then grinned.  I don't think I'll leave them alone with her.  Kodie mentioned that she can swallow a song bird whole...I don't think she understands we want them live.

I think I'll handle the rearing of the children.

So for the next few weeks the little kids will stay with me until they are ready for the farm.  I'm so totally excited!
