The Weird Neighbor

Everybody has one. I've discovered which house contains mine. The weird neighbor.

Behind my yard the lots don't line up so my fence line shares two yards. It's the one on the right that houses the weird neighbor.

Over a week and a half ago the neighbor hung about 3 loads of laundry out on the line. I saw it and thought, "How cool! They put their laundry out to dry!"

But what I didn't realize is that they would never take it back in the house.

It swayed in the wind for at least 10 days with several now battered & muddy shirts lying in the dirt. As bad as it sounds I wondered if they died. Why else would someone leave 3 loads of laundry on the line for 10 days in thunderstorms, frost, and sun?

Three days ago I saw the neighbor moving branches around the yard in what seemed like tidying up. I also watched him carry 3 laundry baskets out to the line. I got excited! I thought, "Finally they're going to take the annoying laundry in!"

After arranging the baskets in a deliberate line in front of the laundry the man left his branches and baskets in the yard. And the laundry on the line.

Hmmmm.

So 3 days have now past and the laundry seems to have thrown itself into one of the baskets out of sheer disgust of the abandonment. And 3 loads of laundry do not fit into 1 basket so it is of course reaching for air and escaping the basket. After all, that's probably some very smelly laundry by now.

So there it sits. Three loads of laundry in one basket while the two other sit neglected and idle. I wonder how many days the baskets will sit there now. It is supposed to rain for 2 days. Great for planting grass seed, which is what I did tonight, but horrible for the once clean laundry in the basket.

Tonight while I did yard work I also pondered the question...with multiple cars in the driveway, why is the laundry still in the yard? Better yet, what are those people wearing?

I can't wait for more weird neighbor stories to share with you. And I also can't wait for the brush to envelop their side of the fence so it won't be so obvious anymore.

Too funny. We all have one, the weird neighbor that gives you something to help you realize that no matter how bad things might be, it could always be worse. For those who don't have a weird neighbor, well you might be it. lol
