Feeding Your Baby Camel

If you happen to have a baby camel, you might need to know what to feed him.

First it is extremely important that you let the folks who own the farm think it is their camel. This will enable you stay at home in bed when you come down with the North African Camel Flu...or the sniffles, whichever.

Camels cannot be raised on calf or foal replacement.  They must be fed lamb milk replacement from a bottle.  At birth they will need a horse-sized teat as a cow's is too large.

Soon your camel will begin to eat ridiculous portions of milk.  At first his cute little 8 oz will astound you and cause you to say coochy coochy coo every time you see a photograph of him.  In just a matter of a few days, he will eat so much so often that you'll begin to argue over who has to take a turn at feeding him.  His hunger will soon need to be satisfied every 3 hours instead of every 6-8 hours.

At this point, it is highly recommended that you take your sleeping bag and just sleep in the barn on the weekends.   It is also my understanding that sleeping in the barn will cure North African Camel Flu.
